Week 6 Recap: Jets beat the Colts 42-34 to cap off the Super Bowl III celebrations.

Two victory Mondays in a row, god this feels great let me tell you. The Jets took care of business yesterday on a nice cool fall day at MetLife Stadium – they looked good. There was a nice buzz at the stadium yesterday due to the Super Bowl III festivities combined with coming off a convincing win last weekend. Sam Darnold played a very sound game, leading the Jets two their second 40 point game of the season- showing command of his offense. The defense played a sound game as well, turning the ball over 4 times will always help your team take care of business. Next into town to conclude our 3 game home-stand is the Minnesota Vikings are for the most part this year can be very inconsistent. The Jets will absolutely need their secondary at full strength this week, while I think it was wise to hold out Trumaine Johnson for another week – we are going to need his presence in the secondary in order to keep Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen in check. The Broncos and Colts were great wins, wins that this team should win – but beating a team like Minnesota in our house would be a cherry on top. I would love for this team to come out and play with this Vikings team toe to toe, pulling off the win – it’s time for this Todd Bowles team to pull off a convincing win against a respectable opponent.

Week 6 Observations:

  • Sam Darnold looked good, the kid is really coming along and it could not be more encouraging as a Jets fan to see in which direction this is going. I mean he was 24/30 with 280 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 INT – granted he was going up against a weak Colts team but these are teams he needs to be taking these kinds of steps against. He looked like the poised quarterback we saw all summer, steady in the pocket while delivering strike after strike down field to his receivers. If Jeremy Bates can continue to open up this offense and put Sam in favorable down and distance situations we will see more success from our young quarterback as the year progresses.
  • The defense continues to play fast and physical resulting in turnovers that put our offense in positions to score more points, that is so key – especially with a rookie quarterback. The D was comfortable with essentially giving the Colts the run, daring Andrew Luck to beat them in the air with Jack Doyle and TY Hilton out for this game. Jamal Adams is an absolute stud as he continues to impress game after game, Avery Williamson has been all over the field and contributed with an INT as well as Darron Lee who I couldn’t be happier to see have success. He looks comfortable and is playing quick and aggressive, also coming up with a huge interception that put the Jets in a great position to win.
  • Jets fans want to completely buy into this team so badly, I know I do and I see everyone else on twitter feeling the same way. If we can get some guys healthy for this match-up against the Vikings this upcoming Sunday the Jets will be in position to win a statement game at MetLife. Taking care of mediocre teams like Denver and Indy is expected from the Jets, but it’s finally time this team takes a step forward and plays a tough game against a legitimate football team – this Sunday should be good!
